Europe post #14: Embassy, biking, winery, and fun

Okay, so here is a quick recap of the last two days.  A bit out of order, but rearranging my pictures gets tricky (mainly due to my limited internet situation), so please hang in there with me.

(1) Chocolate museum:

In theory, a good idea.  Austria has wonderful chocolate, and this museum had some cool displays and you could actually see chocolate being made.  Drawbacks: it was like 40 minutes from our house.  And it was only like one room.  BUT that room did have a lot of samples -- well worth the 5 Euro.  Overall, it was very reminiscent of 2nd grade field trips.  Complete with a "Feely Box" (lost in translation...).

Me with chocolate fountain samples:

(2) Saturn

So I lost the lens cap to my camera, so today Elle, Robert, and I went to Saturn.  It's pretty much like Best Buy but way better.  And bigger.  I didn't want to look like a creepy tourist, so this is the only pic I got.  Along with my lens cap for 8 Euro.

(3) Fun times on the U-Bahn.

(4) Winery

Out at the winery.  At the edge of town, near the mountains.  We all had very fresh wine (like made here in the last few months).  Wine is not my thing.

(5) Sisi Museum and Imperial Apartments

At the Sisi Museum and Imperial apartments.  Photos were not allowed, so I only got a few.  Basically the living quarters of the Habsburgs (the ruling family of Austria for like 1000 years -- an exaggeration but not by much).  Sisi is basically their Princess Diana.  She's an icon from the 1800s.

(7)  The US Embassy

So this venue was on extreme lockdown.  As in they required a passport for entry and took away all electronics (cell phones, e-readers, everything...).  But basically we just learned about what the Embassy does in Austria.  Very cool.
