Europe Post #9: Sunday, July 1

On Sunday, four of us bought public transportation passes and went to some nearby islands.  Clarification – a lot of the main “Venice” is islands, but these islands were like 20-30 min away.  Not a short bridge walk away.  Murano is famous for glass blowing, and Burano is famous for lace (also known as BO-RANE-OH if you are extremely southern).  Both were beautiful.  Afterwards, a few of us rode up and down the Grand Canal.  We got our money’s worth of the boat-transportation passes.  Then we headed back to the train station for another wonderful 12-hour train ride.  Austrian countryside is beautiful.  I only got a few sub-par photos with my iPhone, but needless to say I’m pumped for Salzburg in a few weeks.

*** Warning:  the islands were my favorite place yet!! ***

One of the glass shops.  Don't break a chandelier, they're $$$$.

Glass blowing.

Futball is kind of a big deal here.  #eurocup
