Europe Post #11: Wednesday and Thursday

Wednesday:

First of all, God bless America.
We spent the morning at the Belvedere, the Palace of Prince Eugene of Savoy.  It's a beautiful baroque palace, but unfortunately no photography was allowed.

The Imperial Crypt.  Lots of Hapsburgs are buried there.  They basically ruled all of Europe.  Exaggeration.  But they ruled Austria, the Holy Roman Empire, and other countries depending on the current marriages.

A little Karoline:

Monks take care of the crypt.  Monk spotting!:

Karlskirche.  Aka Charles' Church.  The fresco on the dome is currently undergoing restoration, so we got to take an elevator to the very top.  And there was a practice for a concert later that night.  So we got to listen to some Mozart while we toured.

The Imperial Treasury.

A huge emerald:

  1. Seeing a monk? That's like up there with seeing a nun! But not quite.
